Seedlings:
2-3 year olds

Class Details:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (3 days a week)
9:00am-12:30pm with an option to extend until 1:00pm

Our Seedling class is dedicated to our 2 year olds and young 3 year olds who are coming to the forest for the first time without their grown-ups. In this space we will support children in exploring the natural world around them, while learning to navigate a group setting. By giving the 2s a dedicated class, we hope to help them cultivate comfort in our natural environment, joy in the freedom of being outdoors, and a sense of awe and wonder that will carry with them throughout their lives.

Project work at this age tends to center around how to be away from your primary caregivers and developing a sense of who you are when you are without them. Because of this we give lots of space for home-school connection and sharing stories from our families. We will follow the interests of the class and allow the third teacher (our environment) to help inspire us for that to investigate.

Our Daily Flow

Our daily flow will always depend on the needs of the children and what is happening in the environment and therefore may change depending on these needs.

  • 9:00-9:30 Gentle Drop-off, parents may linger-free exploration of the space

  • Greeting Circle-a time to come together, sing songs, and greet one another.

  • Snack and story sharing.

  • Hiking/play/small group exploration

  • Second Snack

  • 12:15-12:30 Closing Circle-giving gratitude for our time together and saying good-byes

  • Exploration for those extending until 1:00pm
